Write On Masterclasses

Term 3 2025​​

Join us for a fabulous day of writing and creating. 

Unless indicated otherwise, our masterclasses are open to all young writers in Years 7-13. ​​​​

 Podcasting the Future Rangiora Year 7-13

Get a team of 4-6 students together and come along to refine your theme

and write your script. 

​

You will then book to record your podcast at Plains Media to enter the Top of the Pods competition.

 

Please book one place for a team of 4-6 students to represent your school or group.

 Toi Auaha - create & innovate Year 7-13

​

Be inspired by the art and historic buildings

around Toi Auaha to write your own piece of poetry, flash fiction or memoir.

​

Toi Auaha is a Community Arts Facility in the historic Rolleston House on the corner of Worcester Street and Rolleston Avenue. The facility is managed by the CCC Arts Team as part of the implementation of Toi ÅŒtautahi, the city's art strategy.

 Short Story:

beginning, end and all the bits in between 

​

We will see a short story through a process, finding ways to begin, develop character, and sequence action

before the hardest bit — reaching an end.

Your Tutors

​

Pia Titus is a freelance audio and online content creator. She is obsessed with storytelling, radio and all things audio.

 

Philomena Johnson is a graduate of Hagley Writers’ Institute. She is a writer of poetry and is currently working on a verse novel for younger readers.

​

Desna Wallace is a librarian, blogger, book reviewer, author and poet. She loves short-form writing, verse novels and teaching young writers.​ She is an award-winning writer of microfiction.​​​

​

​​​Gail Ingram writes award-winning poetry and is a much sought-after poetry editor. â€‹

​

Heather McQuillan is an award-winning writer of novels for young people, short stories and flash fiction.

​

​

Schools: limited to 6 places per school ( see booking form)

Please note that we can run a masterclass at your school if you have 16 or more students!
