It has been a wonderful start to our 30th anniversary year with a successful Summer Writing School and now all of our Write On Saturday classes already booked out for Term 1. We have 80 young writers joining us on Saturday mornings either in person at Ara in Ōtautahi Christchurch or from around the motu via our Online Class for teens. On Saturday 11th Feb we will welcome 25 new writers ages 6 to 17 to our Saturday writing community! Book now for term 2 to avoid disappointment!
Once again we have a stellar lineup of tutors to engage, inspire and guide young writers. All of our tutors are writers who have a deep understanding of the writing process and also have a keen eye for the gems that our young writers produce. We are thrilled to welcome Karen Healy, writer and teacher extraordinaire, back to the team.
In June we celebrate 30 years as an organisation. We are seeking out writers and tutors who worked with us over this time and/or those who had their writing published in Write On Magazine. We are planning a series of special events and publications and would love to find out what our young writers have gone on to do. Please contact Heather at schoolforyoungwriters@gmail.com if you are keen to be involved in any way.
This month we are once again connecting with Seaweek Canterbury in support of their Seaweek Poetry Competition- more on this next week - and also back to offering workshops in schools and masterclasses.
Winter Writing School will return as part of Kidsfest July 10-13 - book those dates.
And of course Write On Magazine Issue 60 and 61 are in the planning! Check out our latest competition and we are open for submissions.
